Habitat— Widespread in warmer rainforest, from 0 to 750 m alt.

Distribution—; North from near Coffs Harbour into Queensland. North from Smoky Cape, New South Wales and Queensland..

Description—Small to medium-sized trees; branchlets hairy.

Leaves.— Simple, alternate, entire, oil dots minute, 3—veined from the base, domatia present, hairy; broad—lanceolate to ovate, 5 to 10 cm long, 20 to 40 mm wide, upper surface glossy, green. Lower surface of mature leaves covered with crooked and straight, erect and appressed, white to fawn hairs; domatia absent.

Inflorescence—Panicles usually shorter than leaves. Flowers c. 3.5 mm long, yellowish, pubescent.

Flowering.—September to October.

Fruit.—Ovoid, slightly ribbed, c. 12 mm long, purple-black.
