Habitat—In and on the margins of Subtropical Rainforest also a minor weed of disturbed areas.

Distribution— North from the South Coast of New South Wales and into Queensland.

Description—Erect to spreading herb; stems and leaves ± slightly pubescent

Leaves.— Simple, opposite, entire, elliptic to oblong to lanceolate, 20 to 75 mm long, 15 to 20 mm wide, acute with a pungent mucro.

Inflorescence.—Bracts spinescent with ovate bases; outer one 3.5 to 6 mm long, 2 inner 4 to 9.5 mm long. Perianth segments lanceolate, outermost 5 to 10 mm long, intermediate 3.5 to 7.5 mm long, 2 innermost 2 to 3 mm long. Stamens 4
